Walking around Kingston Bagpuize

Still on the Faringdon Road, we find the Old Post Office, John Blandy's school and the Headmaster's house. All these places were built within the once estate village of Kingston Bagpuize.

Two cottages next door to the Old Post Office on Faringdon Road. These cottages once looked onto the Village Green across the road where Rimes Close now stands.

Next to the cottages is the second of John Blandy Schools. This photo is taken from School Lane showing the side of the school.  It was at this entrance that we mothers waited to collect our children at the end of a school day. They had to be escorted home as at that time, the main A420 trunk road ran through the village. Heavy lorries ploughed their way from Oxford to Swindon, sometimes in what seemed a reckless way.

Today the School is used by the Scout Association

This house was at one time the home of the Head master of the School and is situated next door to the old school.
