Photos around the village of Kingston Bagpuize

Photos taken on walks in the village

Come with us on a short walk around part of what was once the Kingston Bagpuize estate village. Here we shall see buildings of reasonable historic interest.

Our Village Postman David, on his rounds. Recently a postman was seen delivering his mail on a bicycle once again. Will the red Royal Mail vans disappear in time and be replaced by bicycles as we become more environmentally aware?

Here on the Faringdon Road stands Four Gates Cottage. Recently refurbished and restored it makes a very pretty cottage.

The thatcher arrived in 2006 to repair the thatch on Four Gates Cottage.  Unfortunately, although I was able to see  the thatcher working from my window, I didn't manage to catch him on film.

The Stone House on the Faringdon Road. This is possibly the oldest house in the village. In early times this has been a hostelry and also was the former home of Sir David Williams and his wife Dorothy who had 1st married a Latton. Sir David Williams also lived in Kingston House, Kingston Bagpuize and was one of the Justices of the King's Bench. See further details on the hostelry.

It used to be said that the house was haunted and a carriage driven by headless horsemen was to be seen at times.
